Frequently asked questions.

What EbixEvolution is, who it serves, where Ebix delivers it, and how a brokerage moves to it, answered directly.

What is EbixEvolution?

EbixEvolution is Ebix's flagship policy administration and broker management platform for the property and casualty insurance market: an enterprise-grade platform for managing complex P&C portfolios at scale. It brings client relationship management, quote and policy administration, claims, a full-function accounting engine, diary and task management, reporting and compliance, customer self-service, and insurer connectivity into one structured environment.

Who is EbixEvolution for?

Brokers who run serious, high-volume P&C businesses. It is not a lightweight agency system; it is a core broker platform for large commercial brokers managing complex commercial and specialty risks across multiple insurers, regional and global brokerage groups operating across countries, specialty and wholesale brokers handling niche or high-value risks, and underwriting agencies. In Australia and New Zealand, Ebix positions it for mid-sized brokerages and agencies through to enterprise brokers.

How widely is it deployed?

EbixEvolution is deployed in more than 40 countries and trusted by more than 180 clients. Ebix markets and supports it through regional teams in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Brazil and Latin America.

What does the platform include?

Policy and risk management (placement, servicing, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, mid-term changes, structured risk and coverage data); broker operations and client servicing (client and account management, broker-specific workflows, role-based access); financial and premium management (premium tracking and allocation, commission and brokerage management, multi-currency handling); reporting and compliance (portfolio and operational reporting, compliance across jurisdictions, visibility across lines, clients, and regions); claims administration; diary and task management with a user-defined dashboard; electronic document management; and customer self-service and e-commerce.

How does the accounting work?

All broking and underwriting features are backed by a full-function accounting system handling banking, settlements, journals, payments, and reconciliations. An optional fully integrated General Ledger, a true multi-company, multi-currency ledger, adds automatic generation of insurer settlement cheques, client refunds, and statutory reports, with full accounting controls, system-maintained audit trails, and full transaction history. Cash or accrual accounting, programmable or staggered closings, and hierarchy by company, branch, or cost centre are supported.

Is EbixEvolution cloud-based or on-premises?

Either. EbixEvolution can be hosted on your existing infrastructure or in the cloud, deployed on a single server or in a highly scalable load-balanced and clustered environment. It is a smart-client, web-based application built on a multi-tier services-oriented architecture.

How does it connect to insurers and markets?

EbixEvolution was designed from the ground up as an e-commerce enabled, integration-ready platform. In the UK it integrates with EbixExchange to automate placing, accounting, and claims; in Australia it sits behind Sunrise Exchange as the managing system, with Sunrise Online Quoting, iClose, SmartOffice, a Document Management Interface, a Premium Funding Interface, NAB Transact, eLink .Connect, and Macquarie Premium Payments among its current interfaces. It also integrates with third-party CRM and analytics tools. The set that applies in your market is confirmed during scoping.

What can clients do themselves?

Through Ebix Customer Self-Service, clients view their own policy details, check the status of a claim, view account balances, request reprints and certificates of currency, lodge first notice of claim, and contact their broker. It is a one-way web-service feed from your database to your website, so nothing is exposed, and the brokerage decides what is provided. Online products can also let clients quote, bind, and pay without broker intervention, with the transaction landing in Evolution as if staff had entered it.

How configurable is it?

Extensively, without heavy customization. Risk wordings, templates, policy documentation, marketing information, standard letters, claims codes and categories, reporting options, and the content and appearance of documentation are all configurable. Users can configure additional fields, documents, and reports, and a product and risk configurator sets underwriting and commercialisation rules across all lines. The system is modular, and within each module options that apply are enabled while the rest stay invisible.

Does it support multi-currency and multi-country operation?

Yes. Multi-currency, multi-language, and multi-geography capabilities are built in, with multi-currency financial handling in the accounting engine and General Ledger, and compliance support across jurisdictions in reporting. It is designed for global scale with local compliance.

Can an underwriting agency or MGA run on it?

Yes. EbixEvolution is positioned for insurance intermediaries and underwriting agencies, with underwriting features backed by the same accounting engine, a product and risk configurator, and reporting for capacity providers.

We run an earlier Ebix system. Is there a path?

Ebix has run broking systems in its markets for decades; in Australia, Evolution sits alongside WinBEAT and Sunrise Exchange in the Ebix ecosystem. Brokerages on an earlier Ebix platform are migrated by the Ebix team that already supports them, with clients, policies, claims, ledger balances, and documents reviewed in staging before go-live.

How long does implementation take?

It depends on the brokerage: entities and offices, data to migrate, and the interfaces required in your market. The Ebix team in your market scopes and schedules the implementation with you, covering configuration, migration, training on your own book, and a parallel run through a month end.

How do I see a demo?

Submit the request-a-demo form and a specialist from the Ebix team in your market will reach out within one business day to schedule a working walkthrough on your own clients, placements, and accounting.
